Put Your VTO to Work

Believe it or not, we're already a third of the way through 2024. Be sure to use your remaining VTO hours to help others in need. In May and June, we have opportunities ranging from food pantries to 5K races to blood drives!

Heart-N-Hand Food Pantry | May 7 | Noon - 2 pm| 200 B Street, Belton, MO 64012

After receiving an overwhelming amount of donations, Heart-N-Hand needs help sorting and restocking their food pantry. Heart-N-Hand helps restore hope and rebuild lives for those facing homelessness, poverty or unexpected hardships in and around Belton.

Kansas City Hospice Circle of Lights Memorial | May 21 | 4-6 pm | Mill Creek Park - W. 43rd Street & Broadway Boulevard

Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care is looking for set-up volunteers for its annual Circle of Lights memorial event on Tuesday, May 21. This beautiful ceremony of remembrance is for loved ones who have passed away. It takes place at the big fountain in Mill Creek Park at the Plaza. We will be filling luminary bags and lining the sidewalks and fountain with them.

Volunteers should dress comfortably and be prepared for some physical activity: bending, walking, setting up folding chairs, filling luminary bags with candles and a little sand, etc.

Heroes for Hospice 5K Run/Walk | June 7 and 8| Multiple Volunteer Shifts

Heroes for Hospice 5K Run/Walk Race Day | June 8| 7:30 am - 11 am

The Heroes for Hospice race is Kansas City’s first and only 5K to benefit Hospice and Palliative Care!  This year it is being held Saturday, June 8. Use code “ccb2024” for one of the 10 comped entries.

Associates can also sign up to volunteer on one or both days via the link below.

Blood Drive | June 11 |10 am -2 pm | 1WP - Towers 1 & 2

Kansas City needs your help! Like the majority of the U.S., Kansas CIty is experiencing a “blood emergency.” There is currently only a one-day supply of types O-, O+ and B- as well as a critical shortage of platelets.

Community Blood Center (CBC) provides approximately 65 hospitals in the Kansas City metropolitan area and eastern Kansas and western Missouri with nearly 200,000 blood products a year. That means they need 580 donors each day to meet the need for a life-saving gift of blood. With one donation you can save up to three lives!

Mobile Food Distribution | June 28 | 9:00 am - Noon | KCK YMCA - KCKCC TEC Building 6565 State Ave. Kansas City, KS

We need five to 10 volunteers for mobile food distribution for the KCK YMCA food pantry. The team will be breaking down pallets and culling and bagging products that can be handed out to families who are coming through the line. Once that is finished the line will be released and the team can start filling cars full of products.
