Let's Make This Deal!!

Many of you know that Karen Byers Jones, Facilities Operation Assistant at 1 Ward Parkway, was a lucky contestant recently on the popular “Let’s Make a Deal” game show. For awhile, her lips were sealed about whether she won. Now that the show has broadcast, she’s able to dish up the details!

Karen participated via Zoom on August 10 wearing a Mahomes jersey and shoulder pads as her costume of choice. The episode aired on October 11.

For her efforts, Karen initially won $500, a laptop—and a 2021 Kia Forte valued at more than $21,000! But, to the shock of host Wayne Brady, she decided to trade it in for the BIG DEAL. Her prize was a grill and smoker set.

“What is cool about that,” Karen said, “is I had just said two weeks prior that I wanted a bigger grill and a smoker. Wa-lah! Now I have them both! I had always said if I got on the show, I was going for the BIG DEAL and picking door #2—unless I had won a Mercedes or BMW.”

She said the most memorable part of the show was actually winning the car, even though she knew she was going to go for the BIG DEAL for fun: “You only live once, right?”
