February & Early March VTO Opportunities

KC Pet Project | February 21 | 1:30 –3:30 pm | 7077 Elmwood Ave, Kansas City, MO 64132

Ten to 15 volunteers are needed to help ensure the facility is spotless inside and out, ready to meet the needs of every animal that walks through KCPP's doors. Tasks could include donation sorting, emptying trash, cleaning, weeding and other campus maintenance work—simple actions that make a huge impact in providing a nurturing space for our community's pets and the people who love them.




Pawsabilities | March 4 | 9:30 – 11:30 am | 2073 E. Santa Fe Street, Olathe, KS 66062 

We are looking for 15 volunteers to to help the Inclusion Connection's students make dog treats, cut and braid t-shirts for toys, and cut and pin fabric for bandanas.


PawsAbilities is a skills and job training program for young adults with developmental disabilities. Through the PawsAbilities employment project, the nonprofit organization fosters independence, self-advocacy, and community involvement.


The young adults PawsAbilities serves handcraft all-natural dog treats, sew dog bandanas and recycle t-shirts into pull toys. Students also work in the retail and mobile stores, where they learn customer service skills.


In addition to operating their own retail store, PawsAbilities sells products through several veterinary clinics, pet stores, doggie day cares and gift shops throughout the Midwest.



 

Wayside Waifs | March 4 | Multiple Times Available | 3901 Martha Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO 64137


We are looking for 15 - 20 volunteers to visit Wayside Waifs and work on different projects to benefit the shelter. 3 shifts are available for this VTO: a morning shift from 10:45 am to 1:30 pm, an afternoon shift from 1 - 3:30 pm, and an all day shift from 10:45 am to 1:30 pm.


Each shift will begin with a tour of Wayside Waifs where volunteers will learn about their mission before splitting into groups. Shifts will end with time for playing with puppies if volunteers are interested. It is recommended that volunteers wear jeans.


If you would like to volunteer with Wayside Waifs, please be sure to sign their waiver before attending.






Pete’s Garden | March 7 | 10 am – 12 pm | Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral, 13th & Broadway, across from Bartle Hall

We need eight volunteers to assemble meals for families in need. Volunteers will portion/pack meal containers, rinse pans, run the dishwasher and label lids as needed. 


Pete's Garden collects unserved prepared food from caterers, restaurants and food service operations and then portions and redirects the donated food to families in need.
