HR Benefits & Operations Manager

What do you do at Country Club Bank?

A typical day for me includes benefits administration, HR operations, policy implementation, performance management and a little bit of employee relations. The best part of my job is being a resource for our associates for any stage of their life, whether it’s celebrating a newborn or navigating challenges with a health condition.

How did you get into banking?

I started my HR career at the University of Kansas Hospital, and then I joined Bank Midwest. After working for two very large organizations, I wanted to find a company with a sense of community and the opportunity to develop deeper relationships with associates. I enjoyed the banking industry, and CCB just happened to have an opening in HR. I’ve been here ever since.

What drew you to CCB?

I didn’t know a lot about CCB when I applied. One thing about my first day still stands out, even after 11 years: Everyone was kind and approachable. I felt so welcomed. That’s the feeling that still draws me to CCB today. We get to work with incredibly caring and kind (and smart!) people every day.

How have you been able to advance your career at CCB?

I started as a Benefits and HRIS Administrator and focused on benefits and UKG. As I continued to learn more about other facets of HR (employee relations, payroll, recruiting, etc.), I discovered that CCB and a great manager, Toni Walsh, invested in me too. By taking on new responsibilities, I was able to continue to move upward in my career to where I am today—managing a team, helping our associates understand all the resources we offer and how to best use them.

What advice would you give other CCB associates about advancing within the bank?

Care about what you do. Do your job well, even the small boring things. If you do your base job well, it gives you permission to put your hand up for the big things. If people trust you can do the small things well, they are more likely to trust you with the big ones. And when that trust happens, advancement will too.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

This summer I purchased a paddleboard. It’s been fun to get out on the water, although I’m still learning to stand (it’s harder than it looks)! I love live music, concerts, festivals and watching scary movies. I have 16-year-old twins and a slightly overweight pit bull, Coco, who keeps me pretty busy as well.
