What do you do at Country Club Bank?
As the Financial Center Manager of the Harrisonville Branch, I oversee a wonderful team of six employees. We deal with a lot of customers because we work at one of the busiest branches in the area. I work hard with the staff to make sure every customer has a positive experience. We want every facet of our clients’ financial demands to be met.
How did you get into banking?
I had just moved to Kansas City in 1985, and a friend ask if I was interested in working as a teller at Stadium Bank. I said yes. I didn’t know I had to take a lie detector test—it was quite interesting! The person giving the test kept asking me questions about stealing and criminal action. I didn’t understand why he kept treating me like a criminal. The manager who hired me said my test was so clean they wanted to know where they found me!
What drew you to CCB?
I wanted to find a community bank to finish my career. The only way to find the right fit for me was to pray about it, and I did. I found a position for a rover at CCB listed on Indeed, and that’s the path God opened for me.
How have you been able to advance your career at CCB?
Starting in a rover position gave me the opportunity to work at several locations and get a good feel for CCB’s values. Kim Thornton and I worked together at two previous banks, and Kim has mentored me in every position I’ve worked. With Kim’s coaching, encouragement and guidance, I’ve built confidence in myself, stepped outside of my box and strived to be the best I can be in this position. My mottos in life are “Be All You Can Be” and “Always Live Faith Over Fear.”
What advice would you give other CCB associates about advancing within the bank?
Never settle for just a job; make it a career. Take advantage of your connections and strive to do your best in everything you do.
How do you engage your team?
There is no I in Team. I love engaging their ideas because it makes it personal for team members to thrive. When they’re part of the plot, they work harder to achieve. My philosophy is that hard work is the first accomplishment in winning.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
My husband Dan and I live on a small acreage in the country close to Pleasant Hill, Missouri. We like spending time in our garden and anything to do with country life. Dan and I say our biggest accomplishment in life is our three children—Travis, Lacey and Tyler—who are incredible people. Our favorite thing is when they bring their families home and we gather around the island in the kitchen for a taco feast and catch up on life together.
Do you belong to any community or professional organizations?
I’m an ambassador for the Harrisonville Chamber of Commerce. Each year, the Chamber has a Log Cabin Festival. Our Financial Center is the sponsor for the parade. We choose the theme and spearhead the parade.
