Natalie Regan, Investment Sales Officer

What do you do at Country Club Bank?

I work in the Capital Markets Group as an Investment Sales Officer. We provide community banks across the country with strategies and solutions for their balance sheets, specifically their bond portfolios. Simply put, banks come to us to (1) buy bonds when they don’t have loan demand or (2) sell bonds when they need liquidity to fund loan growth.

My customer base is mostly in Iowa, Kansas and Missouri. I am fairly extroverted and thrive in most social settings, so I really enjoy the people aspect of being in a sales role, but I very much enjoy fixed-income markets and the differences each day brings.

How did you get into banking?

I was referred to my first role at CCB (the only bank I’ve worked for!) by a friend. This initial role as an assistant within CCFSI taught me a lot; although it was brief, I am so thankful for the entry into banking. I joined the Capital Markets Group about four months later.

What drew you to CCB?

Initially, the job itself drew me in, what has kept me here are the people. I grew up in Kansas City and knew some of the Thompson family through school and church, so I had no reservations about the culture at their bank. I’ve been fortunate to work with a great team and have several mentors in my time here, which has kept me engaged and afforded me the ability to grow, something I love to see happening throughout the bank.

You are celebrating a 15-year anniversary at the bank this year. How have you been able to advance your career at CCB?

As they say with kids growing up so fast: The days are long, but the years are short. Fifteen years is wild to me! I am an outlier among my peers to have one company on my professional resume, but CCB is known for its long-tenured employees. Hard work and confidence got me to where I am today. Even though I didn’t have the credentials on paper that said I could have the job I wanted, I took every opportunity to prove to myself and others that I was qualified.

What advice would you give other CCB associates about advancing within the bank?

Network within the organization. Set goals near and long term. Celebrate small wins—they will keep you going in trying times. Lift others up—it is almost always reciprocated.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

My wife and I have two sets of twins—ages 2 and 9—and they keep us very busy and entertained. Though logistically cumbersome, we enjoy regular travel with the kids and also just the two of us. I love Kansas City’s growing food and beverage offerings, so I’m always checking out the latest restaurant openings. So, when we ditch the kids, you can find me at one of my favorite restaurants…Clay & Fire, Antler Room, Fox & Pearl, Bacaro Primo and Orange by Devoured or having a cocktail at Fern Bar, Mean Mule, Panther’s Place and Sagebrush.

Do you belong to any community or professional organizations?

Professionally, I am involved in several state banking organizations. My favorite is serving on the Iowa Bankers Association’s Women in Banking advisory committee. Being a part of a group empowering women to work hard and seek higher-level roles has been really rewarding.

I live in a large, active lake community, so I’m involved in several groups/committees there, the PTA at my kids' school, and lead my daughter’s third-grade Girl Scout troop. We get out in the community every month for a different service project!
