Sending Horses to Greener Pastures|April 16
When Country Club Bank acquired Bank of the Prairie’s Olathe financial centers at 18675 West 151st Street and 23600 College Boulevard in 2019, two sculptures of horses were included in the acquisition. They are made from repurposed found objects such as license plates and old adding machines. Guinotte Wise, the sculptor, titled these life-size draft horses “Workhorse of the Great Plains.”
Affectionately nicknamed Rusty and Sam, the horses have moved on to greener pastures. They are now on display at Powell Gardens, a botanical garden in Kingsville, Missouri, where they will enjoy life among the flowers and the wide-open spaces the garden offers.
Interested in viewing the horses in their new home? Fill out this form to enter a drawing for two tickets to Powell Gardens. The winner will be announced in the next edition of True North News!
Members of CCB's Olathe 151st team say goodbye to Rusty and Sam.

This year, the Thompson Medal was awarded to Bill Ryan, founder and CEO of Shamrock Trading Corporation, a diversified transportation, finance and technology company headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas. The ceremony took place at Country Club Bank. It featured remarks from Benedictine College President Stephen Minnis, Country Club Bank CEO Paul Thompson, Thomas Hoenig, former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, and student speaker Benjamin Joerger.

VTO | KC Community Gardens | April 29
Country Club Bank volunteers got their hands dirty at the Kansas City Community Garden orchard, pitching in for the start of the growing season. By weeding and thinning fruit, they helped manage pests naturally, reducing the need for chemicals, and gave the remaining fruit more space to grow bigger and better.
