Featured Artist: Local Artist Draws Inspiration From Nature, Dreams

The work of artist Ashley Darner is on exhibit in the BGT lobby at 1 Ward Parkway through the third quarter.

Ashley receives inspiration from nature, photographs and even dreams. She enjoys opportunities to be creative and is drawn to painting nature, flowers, birds, cityscapes and nautical scenes.

Her primary medium is acrylic, although she also relies on other media and textures. The bright colors in her paintings and drawings reflect nature's abundant color palette.

As she paints, she says she finds herself quieted by the light and the shadows the setting sun casts upon the tops of the trees. Or, she may be captivated watching a morning glory open before noon. It is in those moments she feels grounded, and energy passes through the paint.

Her goal for her art is to create a feeling of nostalgia or a moment of pause to appreciate the beauty in the simple moments of nature, time and all things living.
