Sheron Smith's abstracts will be on display in the BGT lobby at 1 Ward Parkway.

A familiar name is returning to the 1WP lobby gallery. Sheron Smith, one of the first artists to showcase her work at 1 Ward Parkway, is back with a new collection of pieces that reflect her evolving artistic journey.
Originally from La Rochelle, France, Sheron spent her early years in San Francisco before making Kansas City her longtime home. Her professional path began in education, where she earned a Master of Science in Education and inspired students with her creative teaching methods—often integrating artistic projects into her curriculum. Even while immersed in her teaching career, Sheron never strayed far from her love of art.
After retiring from education, Sheron transitioned to life as a full-time artist, quickly becoming an active voice in Kansas City’s creative community. Her artwork is known for its vivid colors, dynamic textures and the emotion she brings to both abstract and representational pieces. Her work frequently draws inspiration from her surroundings, resulting in a style that feels both personal and expansive.
Sheron’s contributions to the local arts scene are widely recognized. She’s been selected twice to participate in the Kansas City Parade of Hearts, and her piece "Together We Rise" was displayed for two years at the high-traffic intersection of 13th and Grand as part of Art In the Loop’s “Big Board” series. Her artwork is currently featured in local businesses and private collections, and reproductions are available for purchase across the city.
Beyond the canvas, Sheron finds joy in travel and music—pursuing the cello and violin in her free time. Whether exploring new techniques or experimenting with jazz-inspired themes and cityscapes, she continues to push the boundaries of her creative expression.
We’re thrilled to welcome Sheron and her latest body of work back to 1WP.
